At the end of this course you will be able to:
- identify what is meant by safeguarding and child abuse,
- discuss the relevant legislation and guidance that provides the framework for safeguarding young people,
- define the roles and responsibilities in regard to safeguarding children including the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL),
- recognise how your own beliefs, experiences and attitudes might influence professional involvement in safeguarding work,
- state how to respond to concerns about safety and welfare of a child/young person using your own settings child protection policy and procedures,
- identify barriers for children reporting concerns,
- discuss the importance of recording information accurately.
